Hard Rock Cafe opens on Las Vegas Strip

The world renowned Las Vegas Strip is now home to the most highly anticipated, state-of-the-art Hard Rock Cafe in the world, Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas.

Featuring 42,000 square feet of pure unadulterated rock n’ roll, the new cafe, located next to the MGM Grand Hotel, provides three-floors of non-stop action and features the world’s largest Rock Shop. An interactive “Rock Wall™”, interactive “Microsoft Surface” tables, hi-speed Internet access, a contemporary lounge and bar, and patio dining are yours to experience while enjoying an unobstructed view of the world famous Las Vegas Strip.  A Hard Rock Live multi-function venue on the 2nd floor rocks with concert seating for 1000, while state-of-the-art in-house audio visual equipment offers mind blowing imagery and sound. The cafe also features a built-in stage with an attached Green Room that will be occupied by artists from around the globe.

Hard Rock Cafe Las Vegas is located on Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip) in the Showcase Mall, next to the MGM Grand and adjacent to the Monte Carlo.

BANK (rupt) Nightclub at Bellagio Las Vegas

truly is a terrible nightclub that does a real disservice to the greatness that is the Bellagio.  It is disappointing that one of Las Vegas’ most opulent hotels has created one of the most unappealing and least atmospheric nightspots.

Entry to Bank is expensive compared to other night spots on the strip.    The club is accessed by two escalators that send you into a moodily lit club.  If you have even seen one of the LA clubs featured on The Hills MTV show you will get the idea.  The club décor is nice but uninspiring.

The club itself is surprisingly small designed around a single dance floor.  Steps from the bars lead down past two levels of VIP seating to the dance floor.  When dancing you feel like you are in amphitheatre being inspected by the VIP tables.  The dance floor itself is rectangular with seating set into an alcove on one side.

The biggest problem with the club is that it lacks any discernible atmosphere.  Compared to JET and PURE, which bounce to happy partying folk everyone in BANK looked miserable.

On the night we visited the DJ was trying to mix Persian dance music.  Not only did the tune selection suck, the DJ couldn’t mix at all.  When a song did rouse a resemblance of life from the dance floor the tune was pulled and another terrible track dropped.  The DJ could not read the room at all, which meant at regular intervals streams of people filed off the dance floor simultaneously to visit the bar.

To its credit the bar staff are cool and friendly.  It was easy to get served and there were plenty of staff to ensure people were not waiting around.

The quicker the Bellagio produces a nightclub with the same pedigree and prestige as the hotel and casino the better.  The Bank is BANK-rupt avoid at all costs!

Paul McCartney to open The Joint, Hard Rock Las Vegas

Paul McCartney will headline the grand opening weekend of The New Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas on April 19.

“I’m looking forward to Rockin’ The Joint!” Paul McCartney said in a news release.

“We are honored to have the multi-Grammy award winning artist and rock legend, Paul McCartney, launch us into a new era of rock ‘n’ roll at the all new Joint concert venue scheduled to open at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in April,” Randy Kwasniewski, president and COO of Morgans Hotel Group Las Vegas and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, said in a news release. “The new Joint will be the most sophisticated, intimate, and authentic venue in Las Vegas — unlike anything the city has ever seen.”

Tickets go on sale at 12 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Hard Rock Hotel Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster or charge-by-phone at 800-745-3000.

The New Joint inherited its name from the original Hard Rock venue and was designed by the Montreal-based architectural design firm Scéno Plus. The New Joint will double in size, while keeping the same atmosphere of the original venue and will carry on the up-close and authentic feel with the furthest seat in the house only 155 feet from the stage.

The New Joint will be a multipurpose facility featuring a state-of-the-art sound system, an innovative lighting system, WiFi access throughout the venue, a full blogging station for press covering events and 38 flat screens throughout the venue to guarantee the ultimate viewing experience.

The New Joint’s $60 million project is part of the widely publicized $750 million expansion the Hard Rock broke ground on in 2007, slated for completion in late 2009

Getting around
Cab lines ups are long and takes forever, you are better off paying a limo outside the front doors of the hotel. Most of these limo’s are looking for short trips and you can negotiate a classy ride for as low as $25 for a regular SUV or sedan that fits 4 people or a 10 passenger for only $45 total price.

If you prefer to drive, ALWAYS PARK IN VALET, unless it is a Saturday night or a Fight night in Vegas, then you are best to park in the parkade as valet will take you forever to get your car out.

How to save money and go drinking
So you want to go out and enjoy the nightlife, but first you want to “Pre-Sip”
before you hit the clubs. We all know the clubs and ultra lounges charge $12 to $18 per drink (the average person cannot afford that each night), so our Nite Tours secret is to go to the Island Bars in the Casino where they have the video poker. Put $20 into the machine and Tip $5 to the bartender as you receive your first drink. Tip him $5 every third drink and play max on the video poker, but take your time there is NO TIME LIMIT as to how long each hand on the video poker must be played and you can order drinks all night long. If you hit a few good hands you maybe up $$$ so when you cash out you get your $20 back and you tipped $20 for 10 “very Strong Drinks”…There you go, how to get drunk on $20…

Club Line Ups
If you ever see a well dressed guy on the other side of the ropes walk up to you
while you are in line, and asks “Can I help you”? that is your opportunity to tiphim (palm the money) to get into a club. This is an excellent way to by pass long line ups, however you will tip $20 to $30 per person and you will still have to pay the $40 cover, but that sure beats a 2 hour wait to get into the clubs.

Most clubs are dead inside, but they start a line up outside the club. There is nothing you can do about it. A good trick is to get to the clubs early if you are all girls or a mixed couples you will get in. If you are all guys, you might as well pack a lunch, you will be in the line up all night long. Again get to the club early, they always let all the ladies in first. Nite Tours gets into the clubs first before anyone else, and all I see in the club is WOMEN, so if you are a single guy this is PERFECT for you. it is like shooting fish in a barrel, but later on in the evening the clubs change from 80% to 30% women so work your magic early
